Happy New Year 2015

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2015!!  We hope everybody had a great festive period and ate lots of mangoes, passion fruit and limes!!  We had a great Christmas here and a very quiet New Year, and things are rolling along pretty well with Mango Madness 2015, so I figure it’s time to to get organised for the year ahead!

I love New Year’s Resolutions and the chance to start the year with a clean slate.  I love sitting down and having a long hard think about what we want to happen for the year ahead, what things we might have to look forward to, where we need to direct our finances and what things are the top of the priority list in terms of time and energy!  I found this really cool printable graphic on Pinterest which you might like too if you haven’t already had a think about your plans for 2015.  I especially liked the way that goals can be broken down into months – I’m even thinking of setting myself a challenge week by week!

Also, I really liked this post from Maxabella Loves who put together 10 questions to close out the year and welcome the new, so I’ve had a go at them below – you should have a go too if you want to!

1. What word do you think best summed up 2014?

BUSY

2. What did you do for the first time this year?

Ummmm.  This is a tough one!  Went to Lawn Hill National Park.  Was a Joey Scout Leader.  Had a water birth!  Not huge things but still new experiences for me!

3. What is one thing that happened that will have lasting consequences?

The birth of our little ratbag Kipp – he has totally changed our family dynamic – in a great way!

4. Was there anything you wish you’d done differently? Why? How?

I wish that I had kept on top of meal planning and exercise routine.  Our house always runs more smoothly when I am organised and exercise makes me feel better and a much more energetic person!

5. Do you have a favourite moment from the year? What made it special?

Favourite moment from the year is a bit random.  It was just this tiny moment when we were leaving after volunteering at the Cairns Ironman event – we were all wet, tired and hungry, but Kipp did something that made us all laugh and it was just a beautiful little ‘family moment’ – you know the ones where you take a snapshot with your eyes and store it away in your mind?  I don’t know what made it special – just that we were all together, we’d all worked hard and we were happy!!

6. What lessons has 2014 taught you about yourself? About others?

2014 has taught me that I am a bit all about the planning and not enough about the work involved to make it happen – I need to toughen up and get my act together a bit more!

About others?  Well ….. I think mostly that there are lots of kind people in the world.  We have had many people make us feel welcome in Mareeba this year and do quite a few nice little things for us!

7. How will the lessons from this past year change the way you approach the new year?

Routines must be put in place and stuck to.  It is not enough to say I want to do something  – I must actually put the hard yards in and DO it!

8. What do you most want to do in 2015?

Lose weight, exercise regularly, eat better, sleep better.

9. What do you most want to change about yourself? The world?

What I most want to change about myself is not to procrastinate and not to leave things to the last minute.  Oh and to not love chocolate and V energy drinks so much!  And more do – less ‘I will’ do!

The thing I most want to change about the world is for us all to take the time to get involved with our communities!  Get to know our neighbours, make time for our friends, help with kids sporting and outside school clubs.  Be involved.  Make a difference.  Be Connected.

10. What one word do you hope will sum up what you hope to achieve in 2015?

BALANCE

So, after all that thinking – here’s The Fealy Family New Year Resolutions for 2015 taken from our dinner conversation on New Years Eve!

Jess – To be fit and healthy and at least 5 kilos lighter!

Matt – To learn how to weld.

Jack – To learn how to use the mower.

Toby – To make new friends.

Lexi – to play with mum and keep her room tidy (yes mum and dad did add that into her resolution!).

Those of you who read my 2014 post will know that we usually do a Top 5 each for Matt and I, with a couple of family goals too, but this year we have just opted for 1 major focus each.  This is a MUST DO year.  Our Family Goal is to have purchased our own farm or own block of land for the future this year.  A bit of a Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BEHAG) but we want to make it happen somehow!

How bout you guys?  What are your plans for 2015?  Have a go at the questions – I’d love to hear from you!
